Thought of the day

Thanks to art, instead of seeing one world, our own, we see it multiplied,

and as many original artists as there are, so many worlds are at our disposal.

There's just no place like home

Museum het Rembrandthuis

Why I love this place? Well, Rembrandt is one of my favourite artists of all time, and while I appretiate his painting, his etchings are the ones that captivate my heart. Experimenting with technique, he manages to create soul in black, white and a hundred shades of grey. What life is all about.

But most of all, the Rembrandt House is my house. I was blessed with the opportunity of working there as an intern for 3 months almos three years ago and I learnt so much. From the people, the space, the art. Everyone was kind and took time to teach me.

And they are a wonderful museum. Small, but full of life in that house refurbished like it was when Rembrandt lived there. The beautiful studio full of light. The new wing and the exhibition rooms with his etchings and these great temporary exhibitions. Great ideas of how to keep a museum updated, at the verge of things and adapted to change.

For me, it's my home. And there's just no place like it.

Modern Times in Old Spirits

Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

Well, majito, only because you ask for it.

I'm not a big fan of modern art. Sorry, it's just not my thing. I cannot feel inspired by it. But this museum kind off change that a little.
First of all, the Stedelijk is set in one of the most beautiful 19th century buildings I've ever seen.
And the design of the space and the rooms was perfect, full of filtered natural light to apretiate art without compromise it.
And his director is this really edgy, trendsetter person, so I've been told.

So, there you go, surf the site of the museum and embrace their ideas....

El Secreto de los Flamencos

As a way to start this, I do have a recommendation for those taht read in Spanish. This book El Secreto de los Flamencos is one of the most exquisite novels I've read about the Renaissance. It captures perfectly the unspoken rivality between Holland and Italy, between the masters of color and the masters of perspective.

With just the right amount of suspense and perfect descriptions, this book is a must read for Art Freaks.
